Coffee Roasting Championship in Kazakhstan: A Growing Professional Community
A coffee roasting championship was recently held in Kazakhstan, bringing together 22 participants representing different roasting companies. For the professional coffee community, competitions like this are not only an opportunity to test roasting skills, but also a place to exchange experience, meet fellow professionals, and discuss current developments in the coffee market.
The Green Coffee Hub team attended the championship and spoke with roasters about green coffee, current availability, and the origins that are attracting the most interest today.
What are roasters looking for?
One of the main topics discussed during the event was the selection of green coffee for roasting. Brazil generated the strongest interest, particularly versatile commercial coffees suitable for regular production.
Demand for Colombian and Ethiopian coffee also remains strong. At the same time, limited availability of certain Brazilian coffees is encouraging roasters to consider alternative lots and blends.
We regularly cover changes in prices, supply, and developments in major producing countries in our green coffee market analysis.

Three winners were announced at the end of the competition:

The first-place winner also earned the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan at the next international competition stage in Korea.
Events like this play an important role in the development of the regional coffee market by bringing the professional community together. Roasters can exchange experience, discuss green coffee and roasting, and build stronger connections with other industry professionals.
